In Slovakia, the possession, sale, and cultivation of marijuana are illegal and punishable by law. In accordance with the Act on Addictive Substances and Preparations, persons caught in possession of small amounts of cannabis can confront fines or imprisonment of up to a few decades. The penalties increase for larger quantities and repeat offenses.
